Frequently Asked Questions
Why do expats in Madrid typically need storage?
The most common scenario is a gap between lease end and new lease start — very common in Madrid's rental market where contracts often don't align perfectly. Other situations include: renovating a flat and needing to empty rooms, leaving Madrid for the summer and not renewing the lease, or waiting for a new property purchase to complete. Short-term storage of 2–8 weeks is the most common duration.
How does the collection and redelivery process work?
We collect your items from your Madrid address on the day your lease ends or whenever you need the items out. Items are transported to our partner facility, logged on an inventory, and stored in your unit. When you have your new address and lease start date confirmed, we book a redelivery slot. There's no minimum storage period — you can store for as little as one week.
How much does storage cost in Madrid?
Storage pricing depends on unit size. A small unit (suitable for a studio flat's contents: 20–30 boxes and a few furniture pieces) costs from €80 per week or €250 per month. A medium unit (1–2 bedroom flat contents) costs from €120 per week or €380 per month. Collection and redelivery are charged separately at standard man and van rates.
Can you store artwork or antiques safely?
Yes. We offer climate-controlled storage units for temperature-sensitive items including artwork, antiques, wine collections, and vintage instruments. Climate-controlled units maintain a stable 16–20°C year-round, which is important in Madrid where summer ambient temperatures can damage oil paintings and certain wood finishes. These units are priced at a premium above standard storage — contact us for current rates.
Can I access my stored items during the storage period?
Access during the storage period can be arranged with 24 hours notice. We retrieve specific items from your unit and arrange delivery or pickup. There is a small handling fee for mid-storage access. If you anticipate needing frequent access to your stored items, a self-storage facility with direct access might suit you better — we can recommend options in Madrid.
