IKEA Madrid: Which Store, How to Order Delivery, and Why You Need a Man and Van

Madrid has two IKEA stores — Vallecas and Alcorcón. Here's the delivery situation, why IKEA's own delivery service leaves a lot to be desired, and how our collection + assembly service fills the gap.

Madrid has two IKEA stores: IKEA Vallecas (southeast, off the A-3) and IKEA Alcorcón (southwest, off the A-5). Between them, they serve the entire Madrid region. Here's everything you need to know about getting IKEA furniture from store to your home — assembled and ready to use.

The Two Madrid IKEA Stores

IKEA Vallecas

Located on Carretera de Valencia (A-3 access road), southeast of central Madrid. Closest to Retiro, Arganzuela, Vallecas, Vicálvaro, and the southern suburbs. Metro: Valdemingómez (Line 9, but not practical for furniture).

Key fact: the home delivery collection point is on the north side of the store building, not the main customer entrance. First-time visitors often spend 10 minutes at the wrong door.

IKEA Alcorcón

Located on Calle de Barcelona, Alcorcón — 13 km southwest of central Madrid. Closest to Carabanchel, Leganés, Móstoles, Pozuelo, and the A-5 corridor. Metro: Not directly served — best reached by car, bus, or taxi from Leganés or Alcorcón metro stations.

Collection point is on the east side of the building (Calle de Barcelona side).

IKEA's Own Delivery Service: The Reality

IKEA offers home delivery in Madrid from around €29–59 depending on order size and distance. What you get:

  • Items delivered to your door (or hallway at most)
  • No assembly
  • No stair carry beyond the ground floor (or lift access)
  • No packaging disposal
  • Delivery window of 4–8 hours, not a specific time

For a 3rd-floor flat in Malasaña with no lift, IKEA's delivery team will leave your PAX wardrobe in boxes at the entrance of the building. You're responsible for getting it upstairs and assembling it yourself.

For many people — particularly expats who don't have a network of friends with vans or tools — this is where the frustration starts.

The Man and Van IKEA Service: What We Do

Our IKEA collection, delivery, and assembly service works like this:

  1. You order your items at IKEA online or in-store, using the "customer collection" option
  2. You send us your order number, collection date, and delivery address
  3. We arrive at the IKEA collection point, collect your order, load it securely
  4. We transport to your address — including through the ZBE if needed (our vans are compliant)
  5. We carry everything to your flat, however many floors there are
  6. We assemble everything in the room you want it, with professional tools
  7. We take away all packaging and cardboard

You're left with furniture that's assembled, positioned, and your flat is tidy. No van rental, no struggling with Allen keys, no cardboard mountain.

What We Assemble

Our most popular IKEA assembly requests in Madrid:

  • PAX wardrobe system: 45–60 minutes per unit. Most common request by far.
  • HEMNES bed frame: 45–60 minutes. Solid pine, heavier than it looks.
  • KALLAX and BILLY shelving: 20–30 minutes each.
  • BESTÅ TV unit with doors: 60–90 minutes depending on configuration.
  • MALM chest of drawers: 30–40 minutes. Very common in Madrid student flats.
  • KIVIK sofa: 30 minutes assembly, but requires stair carry assessment first.

Which IKEA Store is Closer to Your Madrid Address?

Rough guide:

  • IKEA Vallecas is closer if you're in: Retiro, Arganzuela, Lavapiés, Vallecas, Moratalaz, Vicálvaro, or anything east/southeast
  • IKEA Alcorcón is closer if you're in: Carabanchel, Leganés, Alcorcón, Móstoles, Pozuelo, Moncloa, Salamanca, or anything west/southwest
  • Either store: Chamberí, Centro, Chamartín, Tetuán — roughly equidistant from both

We always choose the store with your specific item in stock — sometimes one store is out of stock of a particular configuration and the other isn't. We check before dispatch.

Pricing

  • Collection and delivery (single van load): from €60–80 depending on distance
  • Assembly per item: from €35–90 depending on complexity
  • Combined delivery + whole-room assembly: from €130
  • Full home setup (multiple rooms): day-rate package from €280
